Okay, so I'm a total newbie when it comes to breeders shows. I haven't even been to one, but I have a really cute 09 colt that I'd love to take to some line shows to get him used to the hussle and bussle away from home. Not to mention the whole trailering experience, bathing, and braiding that prezwalski's horse looking mane(fun times lol). I'd like to attend at least one without the colt so I can get the idea of how things work, and then take him. I'd also bring someone more experienced in line classes with me to give me a few pointers.

I tried googling the upcoming breeders shows, but I couldn't find any dates or class details. Ideally I'd like to find something closer to Ottawa, as I don't want to take him all the way to Orangeville. I think I would need to go to something with open classes, as his dam isn't registered, but his sire is. I wasn't even going to consider taking an unregistered horse to the line classes until a friend of mine suggested it, and was adimant that he would "kick butt" with his movement.

Hopefully that doesn't mean my butt, he has this playfull nipping habbit as I handle his feet lately. But what can I do? He's a little brat, but he knows in my eyes he's the most adorable creature on this earth. It's pretty pathetic when your 2 month old whinnies at you and you call back at him Smiler

This discussion mentions some, I don't know if they are still the correct dates or not.

Good Luck Smiler

I think it is great that people take their foals to these shows. Mine were such little buggers I would not have dared take them at that age, but the ones I saw on the weekend were really well behaved.

I think showing foals is a great idea to get them out and about to new places with mom by their side for comfort.

My 09 filly will be making her appearance at the next show. Don't worry about his nibbling when you handle his feet. Sheesh, with my filly it's a full on rodeo, and it's getting worse with age. I'll be the one getting my butt kicked Wink
