So i thought I was fit... lol
I spent the winter conditioning and riding 10 horses. a month away from that and I am having a hard time staying out of the tack. it is not my cardiovascular system that is the problem, it is my lower leg and core that are failing me. What does everyone else do to stay fit for cross country? I have one horse to ride on a regular basis and today during my jumping lesson I was a mess. Exercises or idea's would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -up we go again- |

Go on a nice hour long hack at the trot in 2 point position and do rising trot without stirrups, you'll build up those leg muscles pretty quick LOL! Also doing a proper sitting working trot without gripping with the knees is just as intense as doing 100 sit-ups (at least I find anyways)

In addition to the Pink Panther's suggestions - which are really good - you could add in some weight training. There are lots of good leg and core exercises to try.

thanks! I guess I do need to add weight training to my schedule. It will probably help the most.
