I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations on horse "shipping" and how much one can expect to spend. I realize it can depend on timing, etc, and if there are other horses planned for travel at the same time... but, based on your experience, what should one expect to pay (what is too cheap, and potentially a warning flag for a company cutting corners vs. what is too expensive). Eg. A 500 km, 5.5 hour trip across Ontario.
Call Perry Transport, I sold a horse to Florida the new owner used them to get her down there. She was very happy. I also know of another couple of horses that got dropped off at my farm, while they waited for Perry's to pick them up.
We just shipped our daughter's event horse to Ocala, Florida with Perry's. We delivered him to their holding farm because we were at a nearby event. He was there for three days before he was transported to Ocala. We shipped the horse in a box stall, 6 bales of hay, a small supply of grain, and two tack trunks. They delivered him directly to the farm where she is working. The total cost was just over $1,200.

I have trailered across Ontario from Niagara to Ottawa a few times now (about 6 hours). Expect to pay from $300 to $700 depending on if the load is full and how far out of their way the shippers have to go. Also, that would be for a standing stall only.
The longer you have to wait for the best deal the better... if you need it done asap expect to pay in the higher range unless you get lucky!
If you are looking to travel a certain distance to a different part of the country i would try and go onto the internet if you have internet access and get a quote because then at least you know what sorta prices you will be paying on the day and it wont come to much as a suprise to you as it would if say you did not get a qoute. sorry if this is not very helpful.
