I bought the special wash for my sheepskin pad, just wondering what type of cycle to use on the washer...temperature of the water too?? I don't have the washing instructions anymore!!

Thanks!

I've washed about 20-30 sheepskin pads, and I've tried the special wash stuff and I found that it didn't work that well - it left things looking dingy and not quite perfect enough. I prefer a small amount of Tide and some Oxy Clean. Wash on gentle/hand wash cycle, cold water, hang to dry or lay flat on towels. I like to toss my sheepskin in the dryer on no heat or very low heat with some towels to get out any extra moisture for 30 minutes. If you can dry it in the sun it helps to dry it faster and kills germs (hooray!). It may also be a good idea to vacuum the pad before and after to get out any fur that may plug your machine and then to fluffify the pile after it's dry. I've found that the better quality the pad, the faster it dries as well.

What Dark Horse said, except I use Zero (Woolite).

A dog's slicka brush can be used to remove some debris and fluff the sheepskin. Go gently though.

How often do you wash your sheepskin. I used my sheep skin for shows only and just the sheepskin so no saddle pad under it. I find especially at hot shows it just gets disgusting underneath, But I am afraid to wash it every time.

I wash mine whenever its dirty(its a roma one) I use the bio natural detergent from loblaws and usually on a normal cycle...then put on the banister to dry flipping every once and a while

so far its held up fine Ive washed it at least 6-10 times
