I know that Larry Butler carries it (thanks Verve)but does anyone know if I can find it closer to where I live? I am in the Carlsbad/Vars area. I know that Embrun doesn't carry it. I will go get it from Larry if I have to, but seeing if I have any other options first...

Thanks!

Hawkridge, contact your vet. I believe that CalPID is "prescription" only. I know I can only get it through my vet (who is not Dr. Butler Wink ).

Thanks Riverglen, I realize that it's a vet-only kind of thing.....I should have re-worded the post to add if anyone knew of any vet clinics in my area had any (as opposed to using the word 'distributors'). I know that my vet, Embrun, doesn't carry it. I might call Navan Vet and see if they carry it.

Have you smelled that stuff?! I think that it smells like it comes straight from the morgue, and it probably does.
Upon the suggestion of my equine nutritionist, I pitched my pail of CalPID out years ago and have fed a good chelated mineral/vitamin pellet instead (ie. Brooks Allphase) to the foals. They love it and they get more out of it than Calpid alone would offer.

Warmblood...my CalPID never smelled bad? I have had many warmblood foals and I would never trust an allphase food alone or a equine nutritionist over the good Dr. Butler. I had a 17.2 Dutch Warmblood by Corland who started on CalPID at three weeks and stayed on it until at least two. He vetted very well at five.

The CalPID stands for Calcium Phosphorus Iodine and Vitamin D...which part of that would smell like a morgue or come from one?

I currently have all my horses on Nutrequin.....does that have the same amount of Calcium Phosphorus Iodine and Vitamin D as CalPID does? I guess I would have to get an ingredients list for CalPID to find out....right?

I used Nutrequin with good results....Does anyone here worry about mineral balls building up in their horses?
