Does anyone know which vets in the area are qualified to do teeth floating? My horses usually get a power float so any vet that is set up for that would be great.
An equine dentist in the area came out to the barn i'm at a few days ago but he charges 3x what i normally pay so i'm looking to price shop a bit.

Thanks.

Almonte Veterinary does teeth floating, I am assuming they are qualified. We have used them many times and have never had a problem. They also supervised Huntleighs vet-in-training (something along those lines) while he did the horses teeth. They were very knowledgeable about what needed to be done and how to do it.

I second Almonte Veterinary. I don't know who is their equine doctor now but they do a good job. I believe it's either Richard or Dr. Sear..

Turnout uses OVLAC. I'm not sure how their prices compare to others in the Ottawa area.

Evangaline Weins is the equine vet at Almonte. She did my horses teeth last spring. She "shadows" Kevin Rundle when he is in the area.

I haven't seen her before but we get all our shots and everything done in spring so I guess we'll meet then.

I can also put a vote in for Dr Garvin. He did my mare for years until I moved and always did a great job! I remember him telling me that he worked with Mary Bell for a while to learn about the power float.

I also use Dr. Garvin. He's great, he is very informative, take the time to explain things. He even had me stick my entire arm up into my horses mouth to feel her teeth, it was so cool!

Kevin Rundle is totally amazing! Yesterday he worked on both of my mares and my friend's horse. Both of us learnt so much and were completely amazed on how Kevin was so observant. I'll never use a vet to do any dental work again. Kevin is much more expensive but is so worth it in the long run. Can't wait to ride my mares in a few days, I think they will be much more comfortable.

Dr Garvin works out of the Smiths Falls Vet Clinic. The number is 613-283-4531.
The clinic is on Hwy 29 on your way out of Smiths Falls heading to Brockville.
