I have 5 used mirrors ranging in size from 3x3 feet to 4x4 feet. I was thinking of making a vertical mirror at the end of the short side (it would consist of 3 sections for a total of 36x96 inches) and putting the 4 foot sections together horizontally on the long side for a mirror measuring 48x77 inches. Does anyone have experience in riding in outdoor arenas with mirrors? Which ones would you use the most, vertical or horizontal? Plus, any suggestions on how to make them less breakable and to install them? Thanks. Patty

Any mirrors are great! I find the horizontal ones on the ends in the corners and then the others along the long sides are the best.

Building a wooden frame would be your best bet BUT no mater what you do if they are glass mirrors they will still be dangerous if they were broken. I wouldn't turn a horse out loose in the arena with them that's for sure.

Consider at what time of day you will be riding most often - and angle the mirrors so that the sun doesn't reflect off of them & blind you! Wink

Hey,
I have no experience with this, however, I have an idea!
You could build a frame, as ponybreeder suggested, but maybe you could put up a plexi-glass 'front' on the mirror? All encased in the wooden frame of course!
